A touch of Melbourne in Merivale

Last week I posted my first blog and shared a little bit about the Darcy name. Coming up with a good business name was the first step in building a brand. This week I will talk about pushing myself outside my comfort zone and sharing some other exciting news.

Do you love Melbourne? I’m really excited to announce that Darcy will be stocking OnceWas, beautiful fashion from Melbourne designer Belinda Glynn. Belinda’s vision is to create effortless and stylish clothing with transitional wearability and versatility. She wants you to feel confident, comfortable, and great about yourself. Our first delivery is due early March 2022!

OnceWas coming soon

We also have our next delivery from the Ministry of Style arriving early next week. The first delivery in December has been very popular, so we hope you love the next selection.

But wait, there's more! We have lots more gorgeous things arriving from the 21st of February from Eb &Ive, Isle of Mine and Tuesday Label. Visit us at 200 Papanui Rd, opposite the Merivale Mall, Christchurch and keep an eye on our New Arrivals page.

Comfort Zones

Starting a business has pushed me outside my comfort zone in more ways than I could have imaged. Becoming the face of my business involves putting myself out there on social media modelling some of the beautiful items you'll find at Darcy. This isn't something that comes naturally, so I've really had to push myself! Thankfully as time has gone by, it has become more natural.

Finding my comfort zone

Another thing that has really helped has been having a good group of people around me. There is so much to learn and I only have a few months experience to call on. Let me tell you, nothing is as nerve wracking as ordering for next season. What will people want to buy? How much should I get? What sizes? Will people like this colour? Will like what I'm ordering? How will this affect cashflow?

We have made some improvements to our online store, we now accept Laybuy payments and have free shipping to any New Zealand address. We have also changed the menu making it easier to see sale items and new arrivals.

A few of you have expressed some concern for my husband after I posted a picture of the Mr Darcy (Colin Firth) on our social media for Valentine’s Day. Please be assured that he is OK with my not-so-secret crush.

Finally, I’d like to invite you to join our mailing list. Stay up to date with our new arrivals and save with our VIP offers! You'll find the subscribe option at the bottom of this page.
